Objective of the Unit

The goal of this program is to increase access to, and improve the quality of health services through the rehabilitation of existing health facilities and construction of new facilities. It aims to provide adequately equipped, staffed and governed health facilities, customer friendly and standard health facility layout, sustainable facility and equipment maintenance and finally IT supported health system.

The main roles and responsibilities of the directorate are ensuring the realization of universal health coverage through support and follow-up of primary health care activities by developing the necessary guidelines and strategies as well as giving the necessary support to all regions in Ethiopia.

Hoping to curb a recent spike in infections, Ethiopia kicked off its COVID-19 vaccination drive on Saturday.

Jabs were administered in several major cities, including the capital Addis Ababa, where top government officials and UN representatives attended a ceremony at the Eka General Hospital.

Doctors, nurses, and support staff at the hospital, one of Ethiopia’s main COVID-19 treatment centers, were given shots of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
