Stanford Graduate School delegation meets with Ethiopian Minister of Health Dr. Mekdes Daba to discuss ways to improve health care access and build a sustainable health system

A Stanford Graduate School delegation met with Ethiopian Minister of Health Dr. Mekdes Daba to discuss efforts to improve the country’s health care system and health outcomes.

The delegation visited Ethiopia’s Pharmaceutical Supplies Services and other health care facilities to gain a first-hand understanding of the country’s health infrastructure.

Minister of Health Dr. Mekdes Daba discussed on-going health and nutrition programs with Action Against Hunger Ethiopia CEO Dr. Charles Oubah. Action Against Hunger is working on nutrition programs in six regions, namely Amhara, Tigray, Oromia, Gambella, Benishangul Gumuz and Somali, in 45 districts and four refugee camps.

A team of doctors from Turkey successfully performed 3 kidney transplants at St. Paul's Specialized Hospital.

It is worth noting that a delegation led by Turkish Ambassador to Ethiopia Berk Baran recently discussed with the Minister of Health Dr. Mekdes Daba about a project to establish an organ transplant center at St. Paul's Hospital. The team of medical professionals expressed their gratitude to the Minister for the kidney transplants they performed at St. Paul's Specialized Hospital.
