The official launch ceremony of the "Adam's" Foundation, founded by former Deputy Prime Minister Ato Demeke Mekonnen, which works on nutrition to end stunting in Africa, was held.
Former Deputy Prime Minister and founder of the "Adam's" Foundation, Ato Demeke Mekonnen, who pointed out that nutrition is not only an individual issue but also an agenda that attracts international attention, said that during his time in government, he observed the implementation of various initiatives, including the Sekota Pledge, and that among the tasks that should be done, preventing child stunting in Africa is one of the most important and significant tasks, so he chose to work on this fundamental task until the end.
Noting that children, especially from the womb to two years of age, receive adequate nutrition, in addition to their physical development, their intellectual and creative abilities are highly valued, Honorable Ato Demeke Mekonnen stated that the "Adam" Foundation was established to address the nutritional problem in Africa and fill the gaps by eliminating malnutrition.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Mekdes Daba, who noted that the government has formulated and is committed to implementing various policies and programs to address the nutritional problem, noted that, for example, the government's focus on implementing the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has led to the sectoral agencies working together to eliminate malnutrition.
Further cooperation and coordination are needed to ensure that Ato Demeke's mission of becoming the African Nutrition Champion is successful at the African level. Therefore, the Ministry of Health will work in collaboration to ensure the success of the mission, and called on national and international partners to support the Adam Foundation.
