Global Health Initiative Delegation Visits Health Facilities in Sidama Region

The Global Health Initiative Delegation, a coalition of development partners of the Ministry of Health, visited Motite Fura Primary Hospital, Hawela Tula Health Center, Qulba Health Center, and the Hawassa Branch of the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Service in the Sidama Region.

The Regional Health Bureau Head, Dr. Selamawit Mengesha, briefed the delegation on the implementation of the Regional Health Bureau’s health system and the challenges it faces. The Sidama Regional Health Bureau Head held extensive discussions with the delegation on ways to strengthen the initiatives being implemented by the Regional Health Bureau, increase medical and drug supply, continue malaria prevention and control activities, and increase health financing.

The visit of the Ministry of Health partners to Sidama Region has enabled them to see first-hand the contribution that their support is making to strengthening the Ethiopian health system, said Dr. Mebratu Masebo, Head of the Office of the Minister of Health; The visit is a confidence-building measure for the partners to continue to strengthen their support.

The members of the delegation said that they saw that the services provided by health care institutions would help improve the health of the community and establish a strong health system in Ethiopia; They appreciated the ability of the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supplies Service Hawassa branch to provide digitalized and modern services.
