State Minister of Health Dr. Dereje Duguma, during his meeting with GLRA delegation, said that Ethiopia still has a long way to go to achieve its goal of eliminating malaria by 2030, and that institutions like GLRA should work with determination to bring about meaningful change.

Joachim Brüninger, Executive Director of the German GLRA, noted that the Ethiopian government is encouraging the work it is doing, starting from allocating the necessary budget for malaria prevention and rapid health and other responses, and assured that they will continue to strengthen the necessary support to achieve the 2030 goal of reducing the prevalence of malaria to “0”.

The Head of the TB, Leprosy and Other Lung Diseases Prevention and Control Desk at the Ministry of Health, Ato Taye Leta, for his part, stated that the plan to achieve zero leprosy transmission is being worked on in collaboration with GLRA and similar organizations.

The GLRA charity organization has been operating in various parts of our country for the past 70 years to support awareness and treatment in the fight against leprosy, and the State Minister has asked for continued support.
