The International Rescue Committee (IRC) provides assistance in various countries to help people affected by humanitarian crises, recover and rebuild their lives, and also works to restore health, safety, education, and economic security to people affected by conflict and disaster.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Health Dr. Mekdes Daba said that they would like to continue working with the IRC to increase access to vaccines in conflict-affected areas of our country; and requested the IRC to support in improving the overall health system.
Discussions were held on how to sustainably access vaccines through campaigns and on the challenges faced in providing access to medical services in conflict-affected areas; Dr. Mekdes, who emphasized the importance of supporting in a coordinated manner and avoiding fragmented approaches, called for evidence-based support.
IRC President and CEO David Miliband, who explained that the discussion raised effective and actionable points, said that IRC will continue to strengthen its support to conflict-affected communities in Ethiopia.
