Ethiopia expressed its commitment to achieving the goals set in the Nutrition for Growth Paris 2025 Summit in Paris

The 2025 Nutrition for Growth Summit was held in Paris, France, at the global level. This forum is held every four years and is a platform where United Nations member states and partners express their commitment to nutrition development.

The 2021 Global Summit on Nutrition for Growth held in Tokyo, Japan, set goals to be implemented by all United Nations member states, especially those implementing the Scaling Up Nutrition Movement, through government and partner efforts.

This year’s Global Conference on Food Systems for Development was held in Paris, France, and an Ethiopian delegation participated in the conference.

Our country, Ethiopia, also organized a side event in Paris, ahead of the main conference, entitled “Implementing the Food Security Pact – From Tokyo to Paris 2025 Conference – A Research-Based Approach to Expanding Access to Investment and Implementation in the Food Security Pact (2021 – 2025)” under the theme “Enhancing Access to Investment and Implementation in the Food Security Pact”.

At the same event, Ethiopia presented the implementation of the goals set at the 2021 conference in Tokyo, Japan, and announced the food and nutrition systems and food security pact implementation targets it has set for the period 2026 to 2030.

Opening the forum, the State Minister of Health, Dr. Dereje Duguma, said that the government has continued to strengthen its commitment to investing in food systems, human resource development and achieving national and international development goals through the leadership of the top leadership and the allocation of resources. He said that in recent years, the government has invested heavily from its regular budget to implement the Food and Nutrition Strategy and the Food Security Commitment, and has achieved promising results.

He also said that the government is implementing programs such as the Food and Nutrition Strategy, School Feeding, Green Development and others that contribute significantly to the improvement of food and nutrition systems, and that these activities will continue to be strengthened.

The forum highlighted the government's commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the new and revised SDGs for 2026-2030, as well as the SDGs for food and nutrition, and expressed its support for the achievement of the new and revised SDGs for 2030.
