The Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the Republic of Korea International Health Care Foundation (COFI), has laid the foundation stone for the construction of a medical equipment renovation and improvement centre.

Minister of Health, Dr. Mekdes Daba, who was present at the construction launch program, said that Ethiopia and South Korea are countries that have a long history of friendship and have stood together in good and bad times. She said that when we start this national medical equipment renovation and improvement centre with the South Korean government, we are confident that it will be completed on schedule, and we are also strengthening the friendship and bond between the two countries.

Dr. Mekdes explained that many medical devices are being wasted in our country, even though they can be refurbished and used again. She said that apart from the fact that the construction is modern, it is a big milestone in our journey to increase health care infrastructure services.

Ambassador Jung Kang, on his part, said that the Republic of Korea and Ethiopia are countries with strong friendship based on mutual benefit.

The ambassador also stated that the two countries are working together in various fields of development. He said that the project that we have laid the foundation stone to start the construction of Biomedical Regeneration and Reengineering Centre is an example.

The construction is being funded by the Republic of Korea International Healthcare Foundation (COFI).
