In the health sector of Benshangul Gumuz region, the program of starting the summer voluntary works was held. With this, house renovation, support of students' educational materials, and sapling planting programs were carried out.
Ashadili Hasan, the head of state of the region who was present at the program, said that health is the most important thing in the various development movements in the region. On behalf of the government and the people of the region, he thanked the Ministry of Health for the support of the Ministry for the activities being done to improve health services and increase production and productivity.
We can ensure the universal benefit of our citizens, including health, with the idea of mutual support and when we can work together, said the Honorable Head of Government Mr. Ashadli Hasan.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Mekdes Daba, said that the winter charity implementation of the health sector is being done to benefit more than 2 million citizens with free health check-ups and medical services, sapling planting, home renovation for low-income members of the society, support of learning materials, voluntary blood donation and others. She stated that winter volunteer work is being done at the national level under the coordination of the Ministry of Health.
According to the minister, in this year's winter volunteer work, medicinal plants are being planted in our country, Ethiopia. She said that the medical equipment that were unable to provide services due to breakdowns in health facilities are being repaired.
In the region's health sector, the summer voluntary service launch program has been officially launched by supporting educational materials for 500 students, renovating houses of the poor, planting seedlings and free health check-ups and renovations.
Honourable Mr. Wolteji Begalo, the head of the regional health office, said that many services including free eye examination, free diabetes examination, and free blood pressure examination will be provided in all areas of the region during this year's winter health voluntary service in Benshangul Gumuz region.
The Chief Speaker of the Regional Council, the State Minister of Health, the Regional Head of Administration, the Health Sector and senior officials of the region were present at the launch program of the winter voluntary work in the health sector of Benshangul Gumuz region.
