Ohio State Global One Health has donated laboratory equipment valued at about 6.5 million Birr in support of the rehabilitation of hospital laboratories damaged by the war in northern Ethiopia.
Ataye, Kombolcha, Hayik, Woldiya and Kelwan Hospitals are the facilities which will benefit from the donation, which consisted of microscopes, centrifuges, incubators, refrigerators and stabilizers.
State Minister of Health Dr.Ayele Teshome said health facilities were among the worst affected public infrastructure due to the war. The state Minister expressed gratitude for the donation provided, and said the support will go a long way towards restoring full service at the beneficiary hospitals.
Dr. Eba Abate, Technical Director for Ohio State Global One Health, handed over the donated equipment to representatives of the health facilities. Ohio State Global One Health currently implementing a five year USD 18 million project in Ethiopia.
Present at the handing over ceremony was Dr.Caroline Ryan, CDC Ethiopia Country Director, which facilitated the donation.
