Minister of Health Dr.Liya Tadesse has presided over the launch of various facilities intended to enhance delivery of improved medical services at the Queen Eleni Mohamed Memorial Comprehensive Specialized Hospital of Wachamo University.
Dr.Liya inaugurated a CT scan procured at the cost of about 40 million Birr, as well as a pre-health facility call center built as part of the Major City Emergency and Critical Services Improvement Program(MECIP). The Minister also laid the corner stones for the construction of a 450-bed maternal and pediatric ward, and an oxygen production plant.
On the occasion, Dr.Liya emphasized the need for expanding the use of modern medical technologies to improve access to quality medical services.
State Minister of Health, Dr.Samuel Kifle on his part said university hospitals play critical role in the delivery of specialized training for the production of qualified medical professionals, and in conducting research focused on addressing important national health issues.
Present on the occasion were Head of the South Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Health Bureau, senior zonal officials and other invited guests.
