Healthy Mother's Day has been celebrated in Dessie. During the ceremony, the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with partners, donated over 21 million birr worth of medical supplies, medicines, two ambulances and cash to support maternal and child health.


State Minister of Health, Dr. Dereje Duguma, said during the handover that the invading forces had destroyed our institutions but will never break our strong spirit and unity. He said that we will build our institutions together and build them more than ever before.


Maternal and Child Health Director, Dr. Meseret Zelalem, on her part said maternal and child health services in Afar and Amhara regions are facing challenges due to the war. She said 21 million birr has been provided to Amhara State by coordinating partners.


The Deputy Head of the Amhara Regional Health Bureau, Abdukarim Mengistu, received the support and thanked the partners and the Ministry of Health for their support. He called on all parties to work together to restore health facilities in the area.


Dessie Hospital has been visited and the training center and clinic building has also been built in Dessie. Donations were made to mothers who gave birth at Dessie Hospital on the occasion of a healthy mother month.
