Attend the conclusion of the National Health Insurance Service 2013 fiscal year performance and the 2014 plan review conference, speaking on the occasion, Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Tadesse on the occasion said the work should be strengthened in the 2014 Ethiopian budget year by increasing the number of health insurance members.
She said the increase in the number of health insurance members and the creation of a sustainable financial system will help alleviate the problems of health facilities. Minister Dr. Lia Tadesse said the leadership of the health structure from top to bottom should work together in a spirit of support and coordination to achieve this.
Dr. Lia Tadesse added that the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Agency is implementing various reforms to address the shortage of medicines in health facilities; the Agency is implementing various reforms to improve the forecasting and distribution system and will work to strengthen domestic producers to address the shortcomings of international suppliers.
Director General of the Ethiopian Health Insurance Service, Frehiwot Abebe, on her part, unveiled the 2014 Fiscal Production and Renewal Document. Accordingly, the goals are to increase the number of health insurance from 834 woredas to 914 and increase the membership from 58 percent to 68 percent.
At the end of the conference, the Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Tadesse presented Certificates and Desktop Computer Award for the best performing branches in the 2013 Ethiopian budget year. Dessie, Adama, Arbaminch, Asosa and Addis Ababa branches were awarded for their outstanding performance.
