Ethiopia’s COVID 19 Directive Revised

Ethiopia has amended Directive No.803/2020, providing for the prevention and control of COVID 19 in Ethiopia, and effective starting 1 April 2022.
                                                                                                                                                                                Minister of Health Dr.Liya Tadese has briefed the media on Directive No.882/2022, ‘The Revised Directive to Provide for the Prevention and Control of the COVID 19 Pandemic’.

Forum to Review Health Sector Performance, Build Consensus on Priorities

A joint forum of senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Health (MoH), agencies accountable to MoH and regional health bureaus opened today. The Forum will review performance of the sector during the past six months, challenges encountered and experiences gained, while also building consensus on sector priorities for the remainder of the fiscal year.

East African countries must work together to prevent and control TB

A side discussion on TB prevention and control was held with representatives of neighboring countries attending the 16th Annual TB Research Conference.


It is important for countries to work together, as TB is difficult to treat and monitor because neighboring countries have similar communities, especially in pastoral areas of East Africa. 

Sixteenth National Tuberculosis Research Conference Underway in Hawassa

The Sixteenth National Tuberculosis Research Conference has opened in Hawassa, Sidama Regional State. The conference, which takes place from 22-24 March 2022, brings together researchers and policy makers from higher learning institutions, partner organizations and neighboring countries.


Inaugurating the Conference, State Minister of Health Dr.Ayele Teshome noted that whereas Ethiopia has made major strides in TB prevention and control over the years, conflict and  drought,  and the resulting disruption in health service delivery posed significant challenges. 

Gratitude and recognition program has been held to honor the health sector for their contribution to law enforcement and survival campaigns

Gratitude and recognition program

Gratitude and recognition program has been organized by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Defense for the contribution of health institutions, health care professionals and various stakeholders who contributed to the law enforcement and survival campaign in our country.

An estimated 286,000 dollar worth of medical supplies were donated to St. Paul's Hospital.

Coca-Cola Foundation

This donation was made by the Coca-Cola Foundation, a global charity wing of the Coca-Cola company.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Tadesse, who was the guest of honor at the official handover ceremony, said the support will greatly enhance St. Paul's Specialized Hospital's ability to provide health care to patients.

Ethiopia’s First Food-Based Dietary Guidelines (FBDG) Launched

The ‘Food-Based Dietary Guidelines (FBDG), developed through a collaborative partnership among the Ministry of Health (MoH), the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Education, was launched on 16 March 2022. The development of the Guideline was coordinated by the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI).

Events Marking ‘Data Week’ Underway

DATA WEEK

The first ‘National Health Data Week’ is being observed at all hierarchies of the health regulatory and delivery system including the FMoH and affiliated agencies, regional health bureaus and other stakeholders, with emphasis on the need to maintain health data quality. The federal level event to launch the week-long program took place at the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) Monday 14 Oct. 2022.
