The first ‘National Health Data Week’ is being observed at all hierarchies of the health regulatory and delivery system including the FMoH and affiliated agencies, regional health bureaus and other stakeholders, with emphasis on the need to maintain health data quality. The federal level event to launch the week-long program took place at the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) Monday 14 Oct. 2022.
On the occasion, the FMoH launched the ‘National Health Data Access and Sharing Guideline’ and ‘National and Regional Health Atlas’. The Guideline and the Atlas were developed by the Ministry in collaboration with the Ethiopian Public Health Institute.
Speaking at the event, Dr.Ruth Negatu, Chief of Staff for the Office of the Minister, said improving quality and access to health service by addressing problems related to health data remains one of the principal areas of engagement for FMoH. This objective is being perused through interventions aimed at enhancing health data quality, health data user behavior and data driven decision under the Health Sector Transformation Plan II (HSTP II), Dr.Ruth said.
