Ethiopia has vaccinated more than 20 million of its citizens against Covid-19!

Public Relations and Communication Director, Dr. Tegene Regassa, who released a press statement about the 2nd round Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign, announced that the second round Vaccination campaign has been launched nationwide since February 14, 2022; and including the 14 million people who received vaccination through this round, more than 20 million people have been so far vaccinated in the country.

According to the director, more than 17 million people have been fully vaccinated and more than 192,148 have received the booster dose. Over all, more than 25 million vaccines have been used. Furthermore, he added that on this campaign, Amhara and Afar regions, where the first round vaccination was not available have been included.

The director called on the public to be vigilant in taking preventive measures and getting the vaccine, as the measures taken by the country have been effective but unable to completely controlled the pandemic.

He urged health facilities and temporary vaccination centers to continue vaccinating the citizens tirelessly, and all sectors of the community as well as stakeholders, governmental and non governmental organizations and religious institutions, to work for the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic and to make the vaccination program a success. 

It was reported that as of March 3 2022, more than 468,000 people have been infected with the virus in the country and 7,473 of our people have lost their lives.
