Displaced people in Bahir Dar in Amhara National Regional State had been visited

Ministry of Health headed by State Minister for Health, Saharala Abdullahi; A group of representatives of federal hospitals and affiliated institutions visited people displaced by the TPLF and are sheltered in Bahir Dar, Amhara State.


The group visited internally displaced people from around Dessie and Kombolcha and visited the Zenzelma IDP camp in Bahir Dar.

There are fourteen thousand five hundred and twenty two thousand displaced people in the city and there are four thousand two hundred and fifty two IDPs in the shelter. The regional health bureau has opened a clinic by assigning health professionals to make health services accessible to IDPs. It was observed that in collaboration with displaced health professionals and partner organizations, medical services and malnutrition are being identified.


Discussions on service delivery and medicine supply were discussed and work was done with the regional health bureau and other stakeholders to address the problem as soon as possible.


State Minister of Health, Saharala Abdullahi, said senior officials and experts of the ministry have visited the affected areas at various times. She also handed over 3.9 million birr worth of medical equipment to the regional health bureau to help strengthen health services. She further added that the necessary support will be provided.


The Head of the Regional Health Bureau, Dr. Melkamu Abte, on his part expressed his gratitude for the support and called on the federal government to strengthen support and the coordination process.


Representatives of the private health service, who were part of the visit, pledged their support to the victims. Support the necessary manpower and input services by strengthening the support already provided by federal hospitals and related institutions; they expressed their willingness to help and work together.
